People across Sefton are being encouraged to do their bit to help reduce loneliness amongst older people this festive season – simply by sending a Christmas card.

Members of the community are being encouraged to get involved and do their bit to help reduce loneliness, simply by sending Christmas cards to residents at Parkhaven Trust.

Kim Crowe Chief Executive, said: “This is a wonderful initiative encouraging community spirit through the simple act of writing and sending a Christmas card.

“We’d like to encourage children and schools/Beavers/Brownies/Scout groups to send in their Christmas cards and pictures too.

Christmas can be a difficult time of year for people who have little or no family to visit them and any cards/pictures you can send always brighten our resident’s (and staff’s) day!

Research shows that there are many health benefits from having simple conversations about the cards, letters and pictures residents receive. Bringing back happy memories and encouraging residents to talk to others, especially for people living with dementia. This campaign aims to promote these conversations and it’s always lovely to receive a card through the post.”

It’s easy to get involved and ten minutes of your time could really make a difference to our residents.”
