About The Pines

The Pines at Parkhaven Trust is a new, purpose-built nursing home in Maghull, Merseyside, providing high-quality, person-led nursing care within the peaceful grounds of the Parkhaven Trust estate.

Designed around the needs, comfort and wellbeing of the people who live here, The Pines provides a modern and welcoming environment where individuals can receive the nursing support they need while continuing to enjoy choice, independence and the things that matter to them.

The Pines provides residential nursing care, dementia nursing care, end-of-life and palliative nursing care, supported by experienced nursing and care colleagues who are committed to treating every individual with kindness, dignity and respect.

Person-Led Nursing Care

At The Pines, we believe that needing nursing care should not mean losing choice, independence or individuality.

Our approach starts with the person. We take time to understand each individual’s life, routines, preferences, interests and needs so that the support we provide is genuinely personal to them.

Our nursing and care teams work together to provide 24-hour nursing care and support, helping people feel safe, comfortable and at home while encouraging independence wherever possible.

Whether someone has increasingly complex nursing needs, is living with dementia alongside other health conditions, or requires palliative or end-of-life care, our aim is to provide compassionate and responsive support throughout their time with us.

A Purpose-Built Nursing Home in Maghull

The Pines is a 36-bed purpose-built nursing home, carefully designed to combine modern nursing facilities with the warmth and familiarity of home.

Every aspect of the environment has been considered with the people who will live here in mind, creating comfortable, accessible spaces that support privacy, independence, social interaction and wellbeing.

Rather than creating an institutional environment, our aim is for The Pines to feel welcoming and homely – somewhere people can make their own, build relationships and continue to enjoy everyday life.

Dementia Nursing Care

For people living with dementia who also have nursing needs, The Pines provides specialist dementia nursing care in Maghull within a supportive and understanding environment.

Parkhaven Trust has considerable experience supporting people living with dementia. Our approach recognises that every person’s experience of dementia is different, and care is tailored around individual needs, abilities, routines and preferences.

Our colleagues focus on getting to know the person behind the diagnosis, helping individuals maintain meaningful relationships, independence and a sense of identity.

Palliative and End-of-Life Nursing Care

The Pines also provides palliative and end-of-life nursing care, supporting people with compassion, sensitivity and dignity.

Our focus is on comfort, individual wishes and quality of life. We recognise that this can also be an incredibly important and emotional time for families and those closest to the person.

Our colleagues work to provide reassurance and compassionate support, helping individuals and their families feel listened to, respected and supported throughout this stage of life.

Living Life at The Pines

Life at The Pines is about much more than nursing care.

We want the people who live with us to continue enjoying meaningful experiences, relationships and activities that bring purpose and enjoyment to their day.

Activities and opportunities are shaped around individual interests, choices and abilities. This may include music, arts and crafts, reminiscence, gentle exercise, sensory activities, gardening, games, seasonal celebrations and spending time outdoors.

People can choose how they spend their time. For some, that may mean joining a group activity or enjoying time with friends; for others, it may be listening to favourite music, enjoying the gardens or simply spending quiet time with family.

Our aim is always to support people to live life to the full, in the way that is right for them.

Freshly Prepared Food and Mealtimes to Enjoy

Good food, choice and nutrition are an important part of everyday life at The Pines.

People can enjoy freshly prepared, home-cooked meals, with individual dietary requirements, preferences and nutritional needs taken into account.

We want mealtimes to be relaxed and enjoyable, with choice at the heart of what we provide.

Part of the Parkhaven Community

One of the things that makes The Pines different is its location within the wider Parkhaven Trust community in Maghull.

Set within Parkhaven’s established parkland estate, The Pines sits alongside our other services, including The Beeches specialist dementia care home, Parkhaven Court and The Willow Centre.

This enables Parkhaven to provide a wider continuum of care and support, helping people to remain within a familiar community even if their needs change over time.

Our ambition is to help people age in place wherever possible, surrounded by familiar people, places and relationships.

More Than 135 Years of Care

Parkhaven Trust has been providing care and support for people in Maghull and the surrounding area for more than 135 years.

The Pines represents the next chapter in that history, bringing together our experience and values with a modern environment designed for the changing nursing and care needs of older people.

As a charitable organisation, our focus remains on the people we support and the quality of life they experience.

We believe good care is not simply about what we do for someone. It is about listening, understanding what matters to them and supporting them to retain choice, dignity, independence and control over their everyday life.

Nursing Care in a Beautiful Parkland Setting

The Pines is situated within the peaceful grounds of Parkhaven Trust in Maghull, Merseyside, offering green spaces and attractive surroundings for the people who live here and those who visit them.

Being part of the wider Parkhaven community also creates opportunities for social interaction, activities and connections beyond the nursing home itself.

Families and friends remain an important part of life at The Pines, and we want them to feel welcome and involved.

  • Sadly mum passed, but the love and care she received at James Page went above and beyond what we expected. She was treated with respect and overwhelming kindness from everyone involved at the home, including the kind volunteers who give their time generously to make sure that residents are never alone. Her carers included our family in every aspect of mum’s care, offering advice and guidance on how to make mum’s stay with them as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. You are all truly angels and our family can not thank you enough.

  • Thank you to every person who helped Ken in his final months at James Page. He thrived under your care and despite his illness you all brought his wonderful personality back. He and us truly appreciate your help, care, kindness.
He loved his chats with everybody and loved the social activities you provided to all the residents.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Margaret, David, Neil, Sandra, Sophie, Abbie and all the family of Ken Williams.

  • I would like to this opportunity to thank the whole team at The Beeches for all the professional care that you have given my wife Janet since the move from residential to nursing on 29th of September 2025.
After admission to nursing you and your colleagues took up the challenge to stabilise Janet, with a mixture of new medication, great professional care and a can-do attitude. You should take great pride in meeting that challenge to help my wife to stabilise and enjoy as much as possible of the home, the environment and the staff.
One of the good things I noticed is that you and all the staff smile and look directly at me when I am asking for information or just general help.
I think that’s a quality in itself as it breeds confidence.
Janet has had 49 days successful as a write this and long may it continue.
You have all made my life a little bit easier.
Please keep up the good work.

    - Husband of resident at The Beeches

  • I must take the opportunity of saying how wonderful the team are at The White House are. I’ve been interacting with many of the staff for over 20 years – Ann West & Pam in particular, but many of the others. They are absolutely fantastic. The White House is a wonderful and happy family home (not a care home). That’s down to the staff being wonderful people and working as a fabulous team. I can’t praise them enough.

    - Mike Vincent, the brother of a resident at The White House

  • We cannot thank the staff at The Beeches and all the staff on the oak ward since October 2022. My mum has received amazing care, she was really poorly when she arrived now in April she is amazing and is so happy here. The staff are all so dedicated to the residents and it has really shown with 100%

improvement since she has been there. Thank you to all of you.
