We have joined with the organisation; The Reader a national charity that wants everyone to experience and enjoy great literature.

In The Reader’s Life Letters Project, volunteers write fortnightly letters to residents containing chatty news and a poem with prompts. The letters are personally addressed to the residents and for those who have the capacity to read and enjoy themselves, they provide a welcome means of connection with the outside world. For those residents who aren’t able to read the letters independently, the poems will be read aloud to them, creating a space in the day for meaningful conversation and reflection.

Sharing poems in this way allows a space to think about memories they bring up, and enjoy a mindful moment of reading. Breaking poems down into small parts makes it easier to engage, and explore the thoughts that come from the words.

We are excited to soon be receiving the first of these letters.
