This International Women’s Day (8th March 2024) we are celebrating all our hardworking, dedicated female staff. Today we are highlighting a member of our staff who has been with us at Parkhaven Trust for 40 years!

Ann West, Service Manager at The White House has dedicated her life to caring for others. Her career at Parkhaven Trust currently spans 40 years. Ann has worked across many services at The Trust with the last 25 years of her working life at The White House. A loving, happy home that provides 24-hour care and support for nine adults with a learning disability.

Ann is a truly inspirational leader, she has created a culture at The White House of love, care and happiness. Ann treats all those that live at The White House as an extension of her own family, she instills this ethos in her team. She also sees the service user’s family as part of that extended family, involving them in regular weekly lunches, with an open-door policy for all families to visit and get involved in family-life at The White House.

Ann demonstrates and teaches her team; genuine love for the people they care for. It gives her great pleasure to give opportunities to those that live at The White House to fulfil their potential and encourages them to take up meaning activities. Ann coordinates a range holidays and activities for the people who live at The White House from foreign cruises to UK city breaks to plays and concerts – life is full and enjoyed by all at The White House.

The brother of a resident at The White House said:

“A huge thank you for taking care of my brother, I never take for granted that he is so well looked after at The White House. All the staff are like an extended family to us.”

Ann always leads by example and has real love and a family bond for those in her care.

Ann has recently been awarded a Sefton Citizen4Good Award for her outstanding contribution to the lives of those she cares for.
