We provide a full range of activities for our service users, these include (but are not limited to); arts and crafts, poetry, reading aloud, singing, live music, sensory activities, reminiscing activities, hand massage, painting, yoga, physiotherapy, keep fit, seasonal crafts (e.g pumpkin carving, making Christmas cards etc) and board games.
Over the past few months we have also enjoyed:
- A visit from Nwoko Arts and their theatre production of ‘Spring into Summer’
- A visit from the House of Memories – a museum on wheels!
- Letters and postcards from The Reader’s Life Letters Project
- Summer postcards & Christmas cards from local people from the area
- Fun using our own ‘Magic Table’ and interactive devices that allow service users to play interactive online games together
- Working with the Charity Purple Angel who provided individualised playlists of favourite songs on I pods for our residents.
Coming up:
- We have strong links with our local musical community who now offer free music sessions, namely ‘Uke – Skool’ (a wonderful local Ukulele band) and Local Vocals.
- Therapeutic drumming and rhythm based activities for residents and service users.
- Dancercise activities.
- Music in Hospitals and Care Homes providing 12 weeks of musical sessions in two services; singing with entertainment.
- Working with The Brain Charity who will host music and dance workshops in two services for a 12 week period.
- Therapy dog visits to services.
- Calves visit to a service (thanks to a member of staff who owns a farm!) .
