The New Nursing Home Name Has Been Chosen!

We are delighted to announce that the name of our new nursing home will be The Pines.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part in our naming competition. We received so many thoughtful and creative suggestions, and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and support from our community.

The name The Pines was chosen because it reflects the beautiful green surroundings of our estate and complements the tree and nature-inspired theme that runs throughout our other services. It also pays tribute to the heritage of the site, helping to create a sense of place and connection to the landscape that has long been part of its story.

We believe The Pines captures the warm, welcoming, and peaceful environment we are creating for future residents, their families, and visitors.

The winners of the competition will be contacted individually over the coming weeks.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed their ideas and helped us reach this exciting milestone. We look forward to welcoming people to The Pines and sharing the next chapter of its journey with you.

Construction update

Construction work is progressing well on The Pines and the building is starting to take shape. Below is an aerial shot of the site taken on 2nd June 2026.

A reminder of the plans for the new building can be found here and here.

The building is due to be handed over at the end of September 2026 and construction is currently on target to achieve this date. Once the building is handed over to Parkhaven Trust we will need to add furniture and fittings, train colleagues in the new operating procedures, and be inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to ensure that the building is suitable for its purpose.

Examples of the plans and some of the interior design schemes are on display in the reception area at James Page House. Please take time to have a look.

We are planning to open The Pines to the individuals we care for and our colleagues in November 2026.

A reminder of our work with the University of Liverpool

Understanding how to support the people we care for, families and colleagues in the relocation of the James Page House service to The Pines.

As part of the plans to move in to a new building, Parkhaven Trust are working alongside researchers from the University of Liverpool to ask you how we can facilitate a positive, and smooth transition into The Pines.

James Coleman-Watson from the University of Liverpool, and Matthew Burbage who is a Senior Care Worker at James Page House want to explore how we can make the move easier, and how we can make the experiences of colleagues and the people we care for as positive as possible.

To collect your views, copies of questionnaires are available at the entrance to James Page House. Please complete a questionnaire and post it in the box at the entrance. There are questionnaires for colleagues and families and friends. Questionnaires are also available online:

  • A questionnaire for families and people who use the service can be found here
  • A questionnaire for staff can be found here

All questionnaires are anonymous and will be analysed by the University as part of the research.

In addition to this we would like to offer the opportunity to meet with you and share the plans, answer any questions that you may have and get your ideas for how we manage the transition from James Page House to The Pines.

A drop-in session for families and friends will take place on 23rd June from 2.00- 4.00pm at James Page House, where we will share the plans for The Pines and how we will manage the move. We welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you and address any concerns that you may have.

We are also looking to run focus groups with James Page House colleagues so that we can understand from the people providing care, how we can facilitate the best outcomes. These meetings will take place during regular staff meetings to enable everyone to attend.

The aim of these discussions and of the research, is to make sure that everyone involved with the service is happy with the move to the new building. We want to support the people we care for and colleagues to have as good a quality of life and positive experience as possible.
