Role Summary

Do you enjoy spending time with people and helping others have fun? As a Board Games & Quiz Volunteer, you’ll support a variety of engaging activities that bring enjoyment, laughter and companionship to older people and those living with dementia. Whether you’re helping with games, quizzes, reminiscence sessions or seasonal celebrations, you’ll play an important role in making each day meaningful.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting group activities, games and social events.
  • Helping to organise quizzes, bingo, reminiscence sessions and themed activities.
  • Encouraging residents and day centre attendees to take part at their own pace.
  • Offering one-to-one support to individuals who may benefit from extra encouragement.
  • Setting up activities, preparing resources and helping tidy away afterwards.
  • Building friendships and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

What We’re Looking For

  • A warm, friendly and approachable personality.
  • Patience, kindness and empathy.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Enthusiasm for helping others enjoy meaningful activities.
  • Reliable and committed.
  • No previous experience is required – just a willingness to make a difference.

Time Commitment

Flexible to suit you.

Typically 2–4 hours per week, although we’d love to hear from you whatever time you can offer.

Training & Support

  • Full volunteer induction.
  • Ongoing support from our Activities Team.
  • Dementia awareness training provided.
  • Regular guidance and opportunities to develop your skills.
