This International Women’s Day (Saturday 8th March 2024) we are celebrating all our hardworking, dedicated female staff.

Today we are highlighting a member of our staff who has been with us at Parkhaven Trust for over 10 years, Sam Bradley.

Sam’s Story:

I’ve worked within Parkhaven Trust since September 2014. At this time I was a bank care assistant, working predominantly in Harrison House and The Willow Centre. As soon as I completed my first shift as a care assistant I knew this was the career path for me!

In September 2016 I joined as a full time care assistant at Harrison House, I spent 2 happy years here, learned so much about the care sector and grew as a care assistant. During this time I completed an NVQ apprenticeship in Health and social care and completed medication training and became a senior care worker. I was supported amazingly by my manger at the time, Beccy Incledon, as well as my fellow colleagues.

After the closure of Harrison House I worked at Parkhaven Court for a year, during this time I completed a NQV level 3 in Health and Social care. I then moved onto Kyffin Taylor which was in the process of relocating to the newly built Beeches service. I remained as a senior care assistant at Kyffin Taylor for a number of months before assisting with the relocation.

I then moved to The Beeches, a brand-new purpose-built Dementia residential and EMI nursing service. I spent 5 happy and fulfilling years at The Beeches. During my time there I progressed from senior care worked to care supervisor. I also spent 6 months as acting team leader and completed a level 4 Health and social care qualification. I feel that during these 5 years at The Beeches I grew massively as a senior staff member, gained many skills around team management and support and progressed further with my knowledge of the sector as a whole.

I am currently on a secondment, based at Parkhaven Trust HQ. I am working along side a team on the development of a new service. I have recently been accepted for a research internship at UCLAN university, researching falls prevention and medication. I am looking forward to my continued career journey at Parkhaven Trust.

In April 2025 I will be doing a skydive with all donations going to Parkhaven trust, please sponsor me if you can!
